Permission to view provider Hosted add-in requires View application pages permission RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a page in a a sharepoint 2013 site collection that contains a provider hosted add-in in a web part zone.

I want users to be able to view the addin but not have access to all the site's application pages such as the site contents page.

The only way I have been able to grant access to an addin like this is to grant access to the view application pages permission level, because the appredirect.aspx appears to be considered an application page.

Is there a way to give user access to just this app page and not others such as the "Site Contents"?

It seems unusual that add-ins would not be usable without such broad access.

  • Hi Ethan1122,

Yes, you can only grant the access to the application page.

Which library did you store the application page in which contains the provider hosted add-in?

If you store the application page in the Site Pages library, then you could go to the site pages library->select the application page->click the shared with in the ribbon->Click Advanced->Stop Inheriting Permissions->grant the user with proper permission.
