Drives are at risk of running out of free space

Question

I get the warning that drives are at risk of running out of free space. I understand that the recommendation is to have 5 times the ram for available space. I have added a new drive to my system that has more than enough space to satisy this condition. What do i need to change to have sharepoint recognize this space.

Mike,
If you click on the title of the issue in the following section Central Administration > Monitoring > Review problems and solutions it will show you exactly which drive is running Out of Space. And thats the Drive, on which you will need to create some free space and run the ReAnalyze Now button in the list properties of the issue to check if the free space meets SharePoint recommendation. Once its done the Warning will disappear from the list.
Adding another drive will not help in this case the only exception is if you are extending the drive which is running low on space to the new drive but only possible if both the drives are Dynamic.
Hope that helps.

That space has to be on the System drive. The warning is that there might not be enough space to create a full dump file which would get created on the system drive.

In SharePoint 2016, this warning does not indicate the specific driving presenting low disk space availability. However, the specific drive or drives triggering the rule will be noted in the corresponding Error Event in the server's Application log. The rule is triggered if any one drive presents insufficient space.

I would ignore it and disable the health analyzer rule -- this is for a full dump for a BSOD and full dumps are not configured for Windows out of the box. You should use another service to monitor *true* low disk space, though.
