SharePoint ribbon "Working on it" but only externally

    Question

  • We have a SharePoint 2013 farm that most of the site collections are in 2010 mode. These sites can be accessed internally and externally through an F5 device. As we start to move the sites to 2013 mode we noticed that we cannot open the ribbon externally. It woks find internally. It get stuck on "working on it". It will stay like that for hours. Also the context menu for editing files does not open.

The ULS logs show that access to site is taking place but do no show any errors. Any thoughts you have on the matter are welcome and thank you in advance.

  • Hi PawnofGod,

Does this issue occurs on all sites? Have you add any customizations?

Firstly, please check the following things to narrow down this issue.

    1. Hit F5, refresh the page to see if it works.

    2. Try other browser, check if the error still occurs.

    3. Add the site to the trusted zone and enable Compatibility View for the site.

    4. Cleared Internet Explorer cache and restarted Internet Explorer.

    Best regards,

    Linda Zhang

  • Thanks for your interest.

This was solved by our F5 engineer. He had to change the compression ratio into SharePoint. He said it was an F5 documented issue.
