Workflow 1.0 on Sharepoint 2016 - Something went wrong. To Try again, reload the page and then start the workflow. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are running SharePoint 2016 Enterprise, SQL Server 2014 with SharePoint database. Both servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 . We have two servers, front end is the SharePoint Server, the back end is the SQL Server with SharePoint SQL Server database. We installed the Workflow 1.0 on the front end SharePoint Server. There was no error during the installation and configuration processes.

We are able to create 2013 workflow in the SharePoint Designer, published them with no errors either. However, when we try to run them, we got this error: Something went wrong. To Try again, reload the page and then start the workflow.

We reloaded the page and re-start the workflow, got the same error, repeatedly.

Here is what we discovered about these NT Services:

    1.WorkflowServiceBackend: Running

    2.Service Bus Backend: Running

    3,Service Bus Gateway: Running

    4. FabricHostSvc: Running

    5. Service Message Broker service will NOT start

    We tried

    1. Restarted the IIS website Workflow Management Site, also Recycled the WorkflowMgmtPool

2.Tried Net stop WorkflowServiceBackend and then Net Start WorkflowServiceBackEnd

    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

  • Hello Ching,

Re-enter the password for the account that service runs as.

Go to Services on your server > right-click the problem service > Properties > in one of the tabs you'll find the user account and password that the service runs as > re-enter the password > OK > try starting the service.

If that doesn't work, reinstall Workflow Manager. it will resolve the issue.
