Return Promoted list based on query text RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created a promoted list for different views of a list, as shown below, each tile is linked to different view of a List. say "Resources"

Each Tile is showing filtered view if Category is Analysis, Category = Business Advisory etc. There are around 15 tiles. I want to add a search capability to these tiles, if user doesn't know a particular document belong to which category, they can type text and the page should be able to filter the tile.

    is it possible to achieve?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

There is no OOB solution to filter tiles based on search results of documents.

As a workaround, you can return search results of the list view in the promoted list as following:

    1. Navigate to the promoted list and click Setting > Edit page. The add Search Box web part and Search Result web part to the page.

    2. Select Search Results web part and click Edit Web Part > Change query. Add Property filter “Path Contains starts with Manual value” and type “http://<ListURL>/Forms/”.

In this scenario, when you search for the document in the search box web part, it will return the corresponding list view in the search result. Make sure you use the same title for the tiles as the list views.
