How to disable/hide "New Folder" command on the New menu RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hi All,

I have created a Feature for Document Library Creation with the List Element "FolderCreation" parameter setting to "No" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms462947.aspx) , and when the users try to create a new Document Library they were no more getting the "New Folder" option in the menu, things were all good till this point as this is what client expected.

Now a new requirment came saying,  while creating the Document Library by default there should not be option for "New Folder" in the menu  but the Administrator must be able to activate  the option if the users request for it.

But once you set "New Folder= "No" then this list no more supports creation of New Folders. ie Going to the Settings > Advanced Settings >  you will not be able to see the option to activate the "New Folder " .

Could some one help ? :(

    JJ

  • I am not sure whats the reason behind it. But how does out of the box Tasks list does it.

It does not have New Folder option yet it displays the option to enable the same in Advanced Settings. You might want to inspect the list definition  of Tasks list.

I would see and post once I have access to sharepoint box.

  • HI joseph,

for every document library in advanced settings you hava an option like "allow to create new folder in the document libary"
with two radio buttons you just check the option over there accoding to your need

I think this will help you. otherwise get back to me
