Value you're trying to apply is not valid or would break a data integrity rule RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've looked at some of the other responses, but they didn't help.

The situation is that I have an Access (2016) db linked to a SharePoint list.  The actual list within SharePoint has a number of look up and related fields such that when I establish the link, more than 1 table gets linked to the db and the relationships get built out.  However, when I open the single list (table) and attempt to update any field in a given record - plain text, date, or other - I get the "You cannot update this field because the value you're trying to apply is not valid or would break a data integrity rule. Please correct and try again."  I can make the update in SP, and the value does get reflected in the Access DB.

Are there any permission settings I need to look for in either application? or has my company just locked down the "link" edit capabilities on the SP side?

I do have administrator permissions on the SP site.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks
