Handling add-in updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I'm just curious how people here handle the distribution of updates for their add-ins?  I would like the user to be notified that there is a new version available and they can download and installl the new version automatically.

I hear ClickOnce can do this.

I have an Outlook 2003 addin project being written in VS 2008, and I have an installer for it as specified in this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332051.aspx

Has anyone followed the Windows Installer path and gotten automatic updates to work?

  • Hello,

ClickOnce Only available to Office 2007 solutions, thus, you have to check updates by your own codes at AddIn_Startup method,
    pease refer to this sample:

    Thanks
