  • Hello,

    • I have a site collection that contains ( subsite1 , subsite2 , subsite3).
    • I need to configure serach for the following:

               - when user search for a word , it will search all subsites except subsite3)

               - when the user is in "sub site 3", and serch for a word "it will search only for sub site 3".

             is that possible? how Can I configure that

  • Hi,

    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to configure the search based on your need.

    I recommend to create different Result Sources to achieve this goal.

    Go to Site Settings > Result Sources under Search > click New Result Source, and then Launch Query Builder.

    In Query text, type in the following syntax: {searchTerms}path:http://sitecollection -path:http://sitecollection/sites/subsite3, then the results will exclude the subsite3.

    And we can create another results source which will only include content in subsite3 using the following syntax: {searchTerms}path:http://sitecollection/sites/subsite3.

    After that, you can configure the search with the corresponding result source based on your need.
