Option to save site as a template is unavailable RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our IT group set me up as an owner of my group's team site.  I've begun building it, including a project subsite.  Now that I've built the model for this site, I want to save it as a template, however the option is not available.  It isn't available at any site level for this team site.  I have the publishing feature turned off throughout the collection as I've read that this will cause the issue. Several references suggested opening the site in SharePoint Designer, and going to the parameters tab in site options.  Once here, you change the value for the parameter to enable save as a site template to TRUE and it should work, however the parameter is not even in the list.  Can someone point me in other directions?

  • I just tried this and get a similar response as I got when I used the save as template button in SharePoint designer. They both take me to a page where I can create a name for the file and name for the template and choose whether to keep content or not.  When I try to finish it out and save it, I get an error message saying that I don't have access to the page.  This is odd because I'm an owner of the parent site and created the subsite that I'm trying to save as a template. If I send a request to join the site, the request comes to me.
