Lookup field missing columns in the dropdown list RRS feed

  • I am creating a lookup column from a library to an derived event content type list.

    The library allows me to choose the lookup list.

    The columns in the dropdown for the user to pick from is missing the columns from the parent list content type.

    My list that I am using for the lookup is a content type of MyEvent which derives from the parent Event. In the parent content type, the site column Start Time is available. It does not appear in the lookup dropdown list to choose from.

    Hello,

     

               After research, I found it is by design. Many columns in other lists may not show in lookup list. Some common columns such as ‘id’, ‘version’ etc. can be shown in most cases. When you create a new lookup column and pick a list from the "Get Information from:" option you will only see Single Line of Text columns display in the drop down list.
