Quick Question SPS2010 Deployed WSP file, it got to the 2 WFEs, but it never deployed to the App Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried to Bing search resyncing SharePoint Application server and WFEs but there is nothing...

I was wondering, why would a wsp deployment get to the 2 WFEs and not the app server? (if it even does get to the WFEs)

As the feature is not available, even on the WFEs to activate it.Do we need to do  IISRESET on all three servers as there was a change the smtp setting thru the CA ( the ONLY recent change)?

Do we need to deploy WSP file to App server alone? Do we need to recycle the apppools?

When we run the stsadm it seems like the wsp gets stuck in Deploying mode and doesn't go anywhere...  Another question how long do you think it should take for a deployment of a WSP file..

    20 minutes?  30 minutes?

this is a result of the Feature disappearing from the Feature list.

  • Hi cowboy2066.

There is no way to provide an approximate estimation of the time needed to deploy a solution: it is related to the complexity of the solution and the load on the farm at the deployment's time.
If the solution you're going to deploy is a farm solution, the an IISRESET command must be executed for the feature included n the solution to be registered and made available in the farm.
What about the .WSP package you're trying to deploy? Is that a farm solution or does it target only some web application?
How are you deploying the solution?
