The run-around Microsoft has given the developer community with respect to GUI APIs over the last decade has been detrimental to both Microsoft and the developer community e.g. WPF time lines, performance, Silverlight's death, Windows 8 apps etc. It makes
it difficult to choose a MS based GUI API for new work. Yes I know there's WPF but there's enough differences that being able to code for a single XAML platform going forward would be incredibly useful to many developer scenarios.
So.... Can a .net native app run on Windows 7/.8?
If not... why not support .NET Native on Windows 7 officially and give developers a reason to start developing for the Universal App platform but still being able to deploy to Windows 7/8/2008/2012 machines which many of their customers run currently?
