Could not find installable ISAM FOXPRO VFPODBC.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hei!

    We are using a small FoxPro database to create merge documents in Office. It has been working fine till Office 2010.

    Recently, we have started testing the same in Office 2013 Preview version and we are getting this error message "Could not find installable ISAM" while calling “oDoc.MailMerge.OpenDataSource”.

    But, it opens the database and adds the records to merge document. But the error popup is troubling us.

    This is how we are making the connection string..

    m.lcConnection= DSN=Test - Word;UID=;PWD=;SourceDB=C:\USERS\SUBBAR~1\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP\Document000013_C1;SourceType=DBF;Exclusive=No;BackgroundFetch=No;Collate=MACHINE;Null=Yes;Deleted=Yes;

    Wordobj = CreateObject("Word.Application")
    oDoc = wordobj.Documents.Add(m.lcTemplate )
    oDoc.MailMerge.OpenDataSource(&lcTempMergeTable,0,0,0,0,0,"","",0,"","",m.lcConnection,"SELECT * FROM Merge.dbf")

    your help will be greatly appreciated J

  • Hi, many thanks for your question. The DBase (dbf) file format has been deprecated in the Office 2013 release. The final deprecation documentation is not out yet (the current document is here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj229903(v=office.15))

    Is it possible for you to migrate to a supported file format? These can be seen by creating a Word doc, select the mailings tab, and then Select Recipients/Use an existing list.

    Sorry not to be more helpful...pc

  • Hi SubbaRao.Bojedla,

    Thank your for posting in the MSDN Forum.

    The last bracket in the link of Patrick's reply was neglected, so the link seems invalid. Actually it is linked to this page.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

  • Install this:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734

    We use foxpro .dbf as a data-source for mail-merge and this fixed any issues we were having.

    Booya.
