Error installing Access 2013 32-bit Runtime on Windows Server 2012 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get this error when attempting to install the runtime:

"The name for the Office folder can't be created, because the name can only contain the following characters: a-z, A-Z, and 0-9. Please choose a different folder name".

There isn't even an option to select a folder during install, just accept the license agreement and click Continue, which is when the Setup Warning error occurs.  Strangely the 64-bit version installs fine, but I can't compile a 64-bit version of the .accde.

    Log is below.

  • >>> Strangely the 64-bit version installs fine, but I can't compile a 64-bit version of the .accde.

You could create a new ACCDE and have your user try it. Could be that the first one is corrupt?

For issue about installing 32-bit failed, I suggest you could direct to the answer forum

  • Deploying a new ACCDE won't help if I can't even get the Runtime to install. I've gone ahead and installed the full version of Access anyway.

  • >>>I can't compile a 64-bit version of the .accde.

Did you mean Access 64-bit runtime could not work for .accde file, whether you want to create a .accde file or use .accde file with 64-bit runtime.

    >>>I've gone ahead and installed the full version of Access anyway.

Which version of Access you have installed, 32 Bit or 64 Bit?
If you have installed the full version of Access, has this issue been resolved?

Note: You can’t install 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office products and 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office products on the same machine.

  • The issue was I could not install the 32-bit Runtime, but I was able to install the 64-bit Runtime.  However, the developer PC is running Access 32-bit and thus cannot compile a 64-bit .accde file.

Since I installed the full version of Access I no longer need the Runtime nor the use of .accde files.

  • To get it working (yes it's a pain) download the office admin tools and create a unattend.mst and put the install path in that.

    AccessRuntime_x86_en-us.exe /extract:c:\accessrt

    Office unattend:
