  • Question

  • Hi,

    Can I redistribute Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Common.dll ?
My software works with Exchange Server but on another server.
So, I need to copy this dll. If I want to use a functionality of that DLL.

I found only old information about this issue.

    Thanks

    EP

  • hmm, I would not do this. Cause it may have dependencies you're not aware of. Like versions specific ones.

Where did your library came from? How did you install it?

Check your versions installer. The libraries should be part of the management tools.

p.s. when using Grammarly, you need to correct or ignore all marked words. Otherwise the Grammarly markup is part of your post.

  • This dll is a part of  Exchange Server.

    I took it from this path: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Public"

If a prerequisite will be MS Exchange management tools it should work. But I do not want to install it due to only one DLL.

    p.s. Thanks for grammarly thing

  • You may only use that single library, but the library itself may require further things, like registry entries or further libraries.

Furthermore, it maybe illegal and it may violate license agreements.

Thus, the only safe way is to run the Exchange installer.

    Indeed, my question should be:

Is it illegal to use/distribute that DLL?
