SharePoint Designer 2013 - "Failed to Load this workflow"

Question

Hello everyone,
I am having the exact same error and behaviour as this person described:
I created a bunch of workflows before the weekend for a SharePoint site on the cloud and it all worked fine. This morning when I try to open them I get the "Failed to load workflow message". Erasing the cache and restarting my computer does no good.
The post also mentions how this can happen if you are logged on to a computer at example.com, and you are developing the workflow in SPD as someone@anotherdomain.onmicrosoft.com. How do I resolve this issue? I need to develop for this site in the cloud and I cannot log on to a computer in the same domain (ridiculous requirement).
Thanks for any suggestions,

I found the reason. Take a look at the image below. I had two stages, one where my actual processing was, and the other where I had spare parts, things I didn't want to run. Both of these stages were on their own, going straight to end of workflow. This is what caused my problem.
To resolve, I had to delete the workflow and recreate
