Hiding Fields in inherited Content Types RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I am inheriting a custom Workflow task , 0x010801 , to create a new content type and then creating those tasks to work with my workflow. I have no use for default columns like priority, Description and specially content type to be shown in new or edit form.
    How can i explicitly disable these columns while defining my content type. I am using the below format to register my custom columns and content type as a feature in my SP Site.

    <Field ID="" Name="" ...  />

    <ContentType ID="0x010801.." Name="">
    <FieldRefs>
    <FieldRef ID="" Name="" />
    </FieldRefs>
    </ContentType>

    I will surely take care of that, my bad. I found the solution to this problem as here is a link which details all the default columns and their definition as ListRef.

    And Paul i used the Hidden="True" Clause to hide them. Thanx a lot :)

    In future do not post the same question twice. It wastes everyone's time.

    This time it also wasted the time of the moderator who merged the two posts - usually it wastes the time of people who reply to one copy not knowing there is another copy with an answer.

    Please don't do this again.
