Weird Data RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a access 2013 front end/backend application that has been working for years.  All the sudden one of the tables has data in it that looks weird is not right and given the forms couldn't have been input.

Any idea why this may be happening/has happened?

  • Database is corrupt. You may need to run a Compact and Repair or restore the database from a backup.

  • Obviously I already did that.  However, why does something like this happen?

  • It could be a flaky NIC that causes momentary hiccups in network continuity.

  • I have seen this happen when you have a Long Text field in a query with Totals enabled. Disable Totals if it is enabled and see if that helps.

  • Are you running over a wired LAN?

Is your network fast?  Or is there a delay when trying to open large documents, PDFs, Excel files.

Does your front-end create a persistent connection with the back-end at the startup?

Does each user have their own local copy of the front-end?

Have you tried decompiling, compacting, compiling, and compacting the databases.

Memo/long text have been known to corrupt, do you have such field in that table?

  • Corruptions happens to every Database engine...the a number of reasons..

Delete the corrupted entry and go on

Check your Keys and Indexes on that table...usually they get deleted as well.
