customize document information panel without infoPath RRS feed

• Question

• Good Day,

I want to customize the document information panel that shows up when you upload a document into a document library, but when I go into the settings it wants me to use infoPath. Any other way to do this?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Hyde

• Hi Hyde_311,

If you customize the DIP for document library you need to have InfoPath client needed, so as a short note we cannot customize the DIP using inbuilt InfoPath designer as we change custom list form.

You can add more metadata and content type using the Doc. Lib by adding columns or content type to your doc. lib but if you want to apply some rules or validation or adding multiple attachment kind of functionality you required to design the InfoPath form from InfoPath client and publish this to document library that will need the client InfoPath installed on the local machine.

• Hi Hyde,

Document Information Panel is a form that is displayed within the client application (such as Word, Excel), and which contains fields for the document metadata.

So only when opening documents with Document Information Panel enabled in client application, then the Document Information Panel will be displayed.

Did you mean you want to customize the Document Information Panel?

If yes, then we can only customize the Information Panel in InfoPath as KRISHANA suggested.

Thanks,

Victoria
