Why different Quick Styles - same Access installation - in two different databases

    Question

  • Hi

I lost the colors I wanted on buttons after importing an old database to a new one.
But its more than that. The possibilities to recreate the colors by using the Quick Style buttons is gone.

    See pics below.

First shows the options I have in Database1

Second shows the options I have in Database2

I've compared the settings in the database1 and database2, and they are the same.

  • Hi ForssPeterNova,

it is known issue in Access. that when you import the Database or form or anything other in which you had applied the quick styles is removed when you import it.

so you need to apply it again.

As you mentioned above I also try to test it and follow your mentioned steps to reproduce the issue.

and I also get a same result like you.

    you can see it below.

    Quick styles in original database.

    Quick style in imported database.

so I think that there may be some issue related with that.

you can give your feedback to Access User Voice regarding this issue.

  • Hi Peter.  The Quick Style gallery is based on what the current default theme is for the database.  It is likely that what you are seeing is that the two databases have a different theme, so you see different items in the Quick Style gallery.

You should be able to confirm this by opening a form in design view, dropping the Themes gallery (it is in the Design ribbon if that isn't selected automatically), and then seeing what theme is showing in the 'In this database' section at the top.  If you hover over the first theme (there may be only one, or there may be more than one), it should say something like 'Integral used by Database'. Then check the same thing in the other database to see if it is the same theme.

If you select a theme from the gallery, the default action is to change the default theme for the database, but you can also right-click to get different behavior (e.g. applying a theme only to the currently open form).

Regarding the bug that importing forms loses theming, that has been fixed, but may not be in your release yet if you are using a Deferred Channel build of Office C2R.  Can you post what build number of Office you are using?

  • Now the colors of Quick Style changed again!

It's out of my control and I really don't like when Access autoplay.
