How to set Preview Text so it Shows Email Text Rather than Link RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing an automated business process that uses email to assign tasks.  Users reply 'Done' when they complete task and the next task in process is assigned automatically.  The first thing in HTML email is a logo.

    <img alt="Company Logo" src="http://Company.com/image/gps.jpg" width="366">

    So  'http://Company.com/image/gps.jpg' shows up as Preview Text in Outlook Desktop.  On Outlook online and the phone it doesn't show link but shows first line of text in mail.  See below:

    Outlook Desktop

    Outlook Online and Phone

    I'm trying to figure out how to create HTML so email preview on desktop Outlook looks like Outlook online/phone. I've tried dozens of experiments with no success.  I want to fix this in HTML.  This involves 100's people I can't ask them to change Outlook setting.

    I'm using latest version of Office 365.  Not sure what clients are using but I suspect Office 365 or Outlook 2016.

  • Finally figured out solution.  Put a copy of first line of email above link and make it hidden:

    <!-- HIDDEN PREHEADER TEXT -->
    <div style="display: none;  width: 0px; height: 0px; max-width: 0px; max-height: 0px; font-size: 0px; line-height: 0px;">
    	Attached is a calendar of pre-settlement deadlines for the referenced
    	transaction: </div>
    <div>
    	<img alt="Logo" src="http://Company.com/image/logo.jpg" title="" width="366"></div>
    <div style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI', Tahoma, Geneva, Verdana, sans-serif;">
    	<p>Attached is a calendar of pre-settlement deadlines for the referenced
    	transaction:<br></p>
