Large DTA database, what can we do? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we are getting alarms from the Biztalk Health Checker about the BizTalkDTADb database.

    The database is using currently 51 GB
    We are running the DTA purge and archive job with these parameters:

    ---
    declare @dtLastBackup datetime set @dtLastBackup = GetUTCDate()
    exec dtasp_PurgeTrackingDatabase 1, 7, 8, @dtLastBackup,1
    ---

    The two biggest tables in the db are:

    dta_MessageInOutEvents
    This table uses 23 GB

    TrackingData_3_1 table.
    It uses 15 GB

    All data is not older that 8 days, so the purge job seems to work fine.
    Are there any other ways to make this db smaller, or is it the warning that should be set higher?

  • You could make sure that you aren't tracking more than you need.

    Usually in a Production environment you don't want message body tracking on, and also not track all the shapes in an Orchestration.
