"Send To Compressed (zipped) Folder" - Programmatically??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey Guys,

Been wondering for quite some time about automatic compression. I've fiddled around with some custom classes and such, but surely you can access the "Send to" menu programmatically? I just can't find any information on compression, and being as it's an XP tool i figured it would be catered for within VS!

    Any responce would be great,

    Thanks,

  • Why would VS cater to something that is only available in XP? The .NET framework itself runs on 98 and up...

However take a look at the io.compression namespace, as it has a GZipStream class for compressing data....

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.compression.aspx

There is also another built into the .NET framework in the J# library, but the J# has a seperate redist file from the framework you would have to distribute if you used that.
