How to get the list of add ons and extensions for the browsers installed in the machine RRS feed

  • i have windows applcaiton . From that i need to get the list of add ons and extensions for the browsers (IE , FireFox,etc)installed in the machine.

  • IE doesn't expose a public way to do this.  You can approximate it by enumerating all the extensibility registration points (ActiveX, BHO, Toolbar, protocol handlers, etc) in the registry, but this will not be 100% correct.  But probably 95% correct.

    Firefox uses completely different mechanisms for registering extensions.  Content level extensions (Netscape Plugins) live in some folders somewhere and all have a filename of the form NP*.dll, e.g. NPSWF32.dll is Flash.  Browser-level extensions for firefox live in wierd subdirectories of %APPDATA% and have manifests (.RDF files) that you can go parse (they're XML files).  There may be others.  This is not a Firefox development forum, so you should probably seek answers elsewhere for this.
