The specified credentials are invalid? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We just created a Bing Maps account using our Bing business account to sign in.

We sign in with one of our WordPress (WP) user accounts, carefully copy and paste one of the Bing Maps V8 SDK examples to a new WP page changing only the key=YourBingMapsKey to our new key. It generates the map but errors with "The specified credentials are invalid". The key was carefully copied, we used the https://www.bingmapsportal.com/ to generate the keys so, we don't believe them to be trial keys, we are running via a VPN to our WP server...

    Thank you for your assistance

    Matthew

  • Hi Matthew,

What type of key did you create? You need one that is for Web not App use.

    Sincerely,

  • Good morning IoTGirl,

We have tried both the Key type: Basic / Website and Key type: Basic / Dev/Test.

  • Hi Matthew,

I know our keys work with WP sites as I have done this myself.  Is there anything else that might be unique to your setup? A blank space in front of the key string can also cause issues. You can also go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/maps/support and choose Enterprise Customer Support and create a case for the Support Team to debug this with you.

    Sincerely,

    IoTGirl
