MS Edge extension to run background HTML RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I am developing a MS Edge extension which runs popup.html in background.

    I have added below key in manifest.json. I am unable to run the same in background. Not even able to see "Inspect" key under my Extension ID in MS Edge Extensions manager popup.

    "background": {
    "page": "popup.html",
    "persistent": true

    },

  • Hi MS Edge Extension to run background html,

    As far as I know, if you want to show the icon in the tab menu.

    You should add below codes to set the extension icon.

    Like this:

      "browser_action": {
        "default_title":  "Notification example",
        "default_icon": { "20": "icon.png" }
      },

    More details, you could refer to below code sample:

    {
      "name": "Notifications example",
      "description": "Sample extension for notifications",
      "version": "1.0",
      "author":  "Microsoft",

      "browser_action": {
        "default_title":  "Notification example",
        "default_icon": { "20": "icon.png" }
      },
      "background": {
        "page": "popup.html",
        "persistent": true
      },
      "permissions": [
        "notifications"
      ]
    }

    About  how to develop extension, you could refer to below article.
