Setting calendarItem.RTFBody causes attachments to be embedded into calendar invites... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

I've coded a small add-in for Outlook in Visual Studio that adds some text to meeting invitations...

I basically use "calendarItem.RTFBody = "... to add some text in RTF format (I wrote that text using Word and saved the result as RTF and then copy-pasted the result into a variable).

It works nicely (the text is there and formatted correctly)... but...

The catch-22 is that if I click on "Insert -> Attach File", to include an agenda for example, the attachment ends up embedded into the calendar "body" instead of a normal attachment. I'll add a screenshot as soon as MS lets me do that (I get a warning about needing to verify my account if I try to add a picture).

Question: has anybody else seen this behavior and found a work-around?

    Thanks!

    Marc
