Opening IE Webdriver instance as a non admin

  • Im using a tool to invoke the following method to launch an IE instance.

    string driverPath = path
    InternetExplorerDriverService service =
    service.HideCommandPromptWindow = true;
    InternetExplorerOptions options = new InternetExplorerOptions();
    options.IntroduceInstabilityByIgnoringProtectedModeSettings = true;
    options.EnablePersistentHover = false;
    driver = new InternetExplorerDriver(service, options);

    The tool has to be opened using administrator so the browser is also opened as an admin, however website i need to access doesnt work if the browser is opened as an administrator.

    Are there any options to launch the browser as a non-admin?

  • Hi Jack715,

    Welcome to MSDN IE forum.

    According to your description,  I suggest you could try to change the ie setting as below:

    1. In IE got to internet option settings.
    2. Go to Security settings.
    3. Click custom levels.
    4.Inside settings window go to the last setting "User Authentication".
    5. Select prompt for user name and password radio button.
    6.Click Ok.
    7.Click Apply.

    Now IE will always ask for user name and password(Same as run as different user).

    If this not work, I guess this issue may related with the tool.

    I suggest you could post the issue on the tool forum.

    Best Regards,
