Question on effect of two factor authentication on HealthVault access using PERSONID and RECORDID through HealthVault SDK RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an application that connects to HealthVault through HealthVault SDK and uses PERSONID and RECORDID to access
user data on HealthVault. Will the upcoming two factor verification affect this mechanism of accessing HealthVault in any manner? Will the access continue to work as usual? My understanding is that two factor authentication will affect: one, anyone signing up for HealthVault account for the first time and two, accessing their HealthVault account using Live ID credentials. Is this correct?

  • The way applications accessing HealthVault data will not be impacted by two-step verification sign-in. You can continue using same methods to access the data, and existing end user authorization will not be impacted either.

New users (and returning users if the app is online Web app) will be challenged by two-step verification. But it happens between Microsoft account and HealthVault. Applications don't need any change.
