Change the layout of the HomePage to a unique Web Part Zone

Hello,

 

I am currently deploying WSS 3.0 (not MOSS) and i face a problem : i cannot change the layout of my site Home Page. I would like to have, instead of a right and a left Web Part Zones to display web parts, for instance a single web part zone which will take the entire page.

 

How can i do that ? I can't find the solution

Hi

 

You are using one of the site definitions of WSS (the Team Site ?).

 

You have 2 ways :

• create your own site definition and customize the "Default.aspx" page (you can start using the SharePoint Solution Generator : http://weblogs.asp.net/soever/archive/2006/11/11/SharePoint-Solution-Generator-_2D00_-part-1_3A00_-create-a-site-definition-from-an-existing-site.aspx or with the Site Definition project of the VSeWSS)
• customize the default.aspx page using SharePoint Designer (SPD). Launch SPD, click on "File" / "Open Site", enter your website and then you can change the home page's layout

SharePoint Designer will automatically map webparts with the page layout.
