problem with properly showing symbols RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using EW2 - entering R symbol using insert -symbol - ® - design view everything looks normal but in the actual web page shows as ®  with the A infront of R. I checked it with newest versions of firefox and IE and nothing makes sense.

  • You should use for example  Copyright ©   instead of Copyright ©;
    guess same applies to  ®   use ®
    found this to be a problem only with .aspx pages not with .html

  • What character encoding are you using in the page?

    Try utf-8:
    <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type">

  • EW menu gives  3 options ASCII decimal (174) , ASCII hex and Unicode hex (00AE) - I tried all did not work - shouldn't  the sysbol menu suppose to work?

    If no other suggestion in ode view , for example after Microsoft I put <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"> to get the R displayed properly?

  • Thank you it worked. Come to think of it my problems started when I changed to aspx pages also.  I wonder if they fixed this in EW3. Anyway, this solves my problem, thanks again.
