Smiley face symbols showing on front page of site, needing to delete! RRS feed

  • 1) Most won't last long on your site because of the extremely annoying music.
    2) What application did you use to create the menu.  The problem has to do with your menu script.  From the quick look at code I assume some application created the code for you.

  • I suspect that your link script is corrupt.
    Have you checked with the people at as that is where it came from.

    I cleared my browser cache, opened the page moused over the menu and I can not find the image in the cache,
    although I see it in the menu for the page.

    This is difficult because your menu is scripted, and in the DWT.
    Since the menu is scripted it does not display when I open the DWT in EW.

  • I saw a hotlink entry and the googlecalendar insert is where this first started. Will delete and see if that deletes. Or, does this not matter.... will stick to menu anyway? Pam

  • I checked the images used in the menu and they are both correct,
    but for some reason the smiley images show when a link is hovered.

    No idea where they are coming from.
    Have you checked your images folder?

  • Hi Pam,

    As Chris mentioned, the images are being set in your menu script.

    The images are coming from your own server.  Take a look in your code for 01.gif and 02.gif.  They're both the same smiley face with a heart.

    Hope this helps.

There are 2 horizontal bars that faces do not affect. checking. Cannot figure out why this still comes up after delted, however... Where would I get help at sothink.cim?

  • I'm pretty sure Google is not interjecting smiley faces into your website.

    You say its deleted but did you clear your cache.

  • Lori;
       Here is my code, don't see gif.01 or gif.02. However, reviewed in my Web Expression 2 program and both are tan back of tab. Are you meaning that I need to call my internet host? I called them today and they directed me to Web Expression 2 help.
    Thans for your help! Pam

  • The gifs are on your hosted page still:

    <script type="text/javascript">
    stm_ai("p0i0",[0,"Home","","",-1,-1,0,"index.html","_self","","Home","images/MenuFleurIconDark2tone.ico","images/MenuFleurIconLight2tone.ico",18,18,0,"","",0,0,0,0,1,"#FFFFF7",1,"#dac591",0,"","02.gif",3,3,0,0,"#FFAF00 #C89600 #FFAF00 #FFAF00","#FFAF00 #C89600 #FFAF00 #FFAF00","#660000","#640000","bold 9pt 'Arial','Verdana'","bold 9pt 'Arial','Verdana'",0,0],0,18);
    stm_aix("p0i1","p0i0",[0,"As a TND Resident...","","",-1,-1,0,"about.html","_self","","As a TND Resident...","images/MenuFleurIconDark2tone.ico","images/MenuFleurIconLight2tone.ico",18,18,0,"","",0,0,0,0,1,"#FFFFF7",1,"#dac591",0,"","02.gif",3,3,0,0,"#FFFFF7","#000000"],0,18);
    stm_aix("p0i3","p0i1",[0,"Why TNDs?","","",-1,-1,0,"why.html","_self","","Why TNDs?","images/MenuFleurIconDark2tone.ico","images/MenuFleurIconLight2tone.ico",18,18,0,"","",0,0,0,0,1,"#FFFFF7",1,"#dac591",0,"","01.gif"],0,18);

    01.gif and 02.gif in the stm_aix lines.  If you changed that, did you publish the change to your host?

    More strangely, if you type in or", it redirects to  In fact, any number between 01.gif and 09.gif redirects to 07.gif.

    As far as you host suggesting this is an Expression Web issue - no, it isn't.  Expression Web doesn't put smiley gifs on your server or in your code.  It also doesn't set up redirects.  Now, something you did may have done that, but I can't guess what.

  • Just curious.  Did you pay for the menu or the application to create the menu?  Do you own it?

    I wonder if this is a security feature of the menu to ensure someone hasn't taken the menu from someone else's website without purchasing it.

  • It is not an issue with your server.
    It is an issue with the code in the page(s).

  • "It is not an issue with your server.
    It is an issue with the code in the page(s)."

    The call to the smiley gifs certainly is.  Perhaps her host can at least explain what's giving the .gif file redirects.... not that it's likely it was caused by the host.
