Unable To Load offfiltx.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi There

    I've installed o2010pia.msi on Windows 7 (x64). Office 2010 was previously installed.

    Using Visual Studio 2008, I'm running a C++ Win32 application am having problems loading the following Office 2007/2010 DLL:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Filters\offfiltx.dll

    However the following DLL (Office 2003) loads fine:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Filters\odffilt.dll

    The code is as follows:

    HINSTANCE hDLL1 = LoadLibrary(_T("offfiltx.dll"));
    if(hDLL1 != NULL)
    {
        printf("Library has been loaded\n");
    }
    else
    {
        err = GetLastError();
        printf("Couldn't load dll\n");
    }
    HINSTANCE hDLL2 = LoadLibrary(_T("offfilt.dll"));
    if(hDLL2 != NULL)
    {
        printf("Library has been loaded\n");
    }
    else
    {
        err = GetLastError();
        printf("Couldn't load dll\n");
    }

    After running the code hDLL1 returns 0x00000000 with error 193, but hDLL2 returns a valid handle?

    Has the o2010pia.msi not deployed the offfiltx.dll library correctly?

    As a side note, there is also a problem with the registry:

    The 64-bit version is correct:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F90DFE0C-CBDF-41FF-8598-EDD8F222A2C8}\InprocServer32

    Whereby (Default) points to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Filters\offfiltx.dll

    But for the 32-bit version of the registry this setting is missing?

    Any suggestions on how to fix this issue greatly appreciated?

    Will there be a fix release soon for the Office 2010 PIA ?
