  • I set up a send connector and have it configured like this

    AddressSpaces                : {SMTP:intranet.domain.main;1, SMTP:mail.p1-shp02.com;1}
    AuthenticationCredential     :
    CloudServicesMailEnabled     : False
    Comment                      :
    ConnectedDomains             : {}
    ConnectionInactivityTimeOut  : 00:10:00
    DNSRoutingEnabled            : False
    DomainSecureEnabled          : False
    Enabled                      : True
    ErrorPolicies                : Default
    ForceHELO                    : False
    Fqdn                         :
    FrontendProxyEnabled         : False
    HomeMTA                      : Microsoft MTA
    HomeMtaServerId              : Server1
    Identity                     : SP p1-shp02
    IgnoreSTARTTLS               : False
    IsScopedConnector            : False
    IsSmtpConnector              : True
    MaxMessageSize               : Unlimited
    Name                         : SP p1-shp02
    Port                         : 25
    ProtocolLoggingLevel         : None
    RequireOorg                  : False
    RequireTLS                   : False
    SmartHostAuthMechanism       : None
    SmartHosts                   : {[192.168.168.168]}
    SmartHostsString             : [192.168.168.4]
    SmtpMaxMessagesPerConnection : 20
    SourceIPAddress              : 0.0.0.0
    SourceRoutingGroup           : Exchange Routing Group (DWBGZMFD01QNBJR)
    SourceTransportServers       : {Server1,server2,server3,server4...}
    TlsAuthLevel                 :
    TlsCertificateName           :
    TlsDomain                    :
    UseExternalDNSServersEnabled : False

    Result is the following:

    I send an email to USER@mail.p1-shp02.com the email is DELIVERED using the connector SP p1-shp02. This is what i expect.

    T send an email to USER@intranet.domain.main the email is undeliverable.

    Your message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept email from certain senders, or another restriction may be preventing delivery.

    The following organization rejected your message: P1-SHP02.root.com.

    Diagnostic information for administrators:

    Generating server: server1.domain.main

    MorningReports@intranet.domain.main
    P1-SHP02.domain.root
    Remote Server returned '<P1-SHP02.domain.root #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for MorningReports@
    intranet.domain.main

    The configuration says:

    AddressSpaces                : {SMTP:intranet.domain.main;1, SMTP:mail.p1-shp02.com;1}

    If i understand correctly any email address with @intranet.domain.main and with "*@mail.p1-shp02.com" should be sent to this connector asnd this connector should route to 192.168.168.168 .

    Am I correct? What am i missing?

    Thanks,

    Alexis Crawford

  • Hi,

    is 192.168.168.168 the final receiving MX for both domains or is that host set up to route the mail further? Could be a misconfiguration on that side.

  • Hi Alexis,

    Great to see that the issue has been resolved with the suggestion provided by Evgenij. Then please be aware that as actually this forum mainly focuses on developing issues related to Exchange. The previous TechNet forum for Exchange general questions has been moved to a new home on Microsoft Q&A! If in the future you would like assistance regarding mail flow or other aspects of Exchange , it is highly recommended to register the Microsoft Q&A Platform and create new thread in Microsoft Q&A Platform.
