SQL CLUSTER 2012 EDITION UPGRADATION

  • We have 2 node sql cluster with standard editon so how do we upgrade from standard to enterprise edtion.

  • First you need to have enterprise License key and SQL Server installation media. 

    Start setup> On Installation page, Go to maintenance and choose Edition upgrade. There you have to provide new key. Please note, This will restart SQL couple of time.

  • Details are here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707783(v=sql.110).aspx. As noted by Sunil you need to have an Enterprise Edition product key, and the instance will need to be stopped\started for the new edition to take effect.
