    -----

I have 4 folders on my second hard drive, for example:

    19d083f689a480309d5d
        wcu
            dotNetFramework
                dotNetFX20
                     ASPNET
                     clr
                     crt
                     dw
                     Netfx20a_x86
                     NetFXCA
                     NetFX_Core
                     NetFX_Other
                     prexp
                     winforms

They are all listed as Windows Installer Patch, except Netfx20a_x86, which is a Windows Installer Package.
I have three additional folders like the one above, except the top level folder has a different string of alphnumerics. They cannot be removed. Also there are two files on my desktop, which can not be removed - dotnetfx and NetFx20SP1_86x
Right clicking on the mouse brings up an Windows installation configuration window.

  • Hello:

    I am operating Windows v5.1 Build 2600.xpsp.080413-2111:Service Pack 3

I now have 4 such folders (all different alphanumeric strings) and they are all the same except for the initial folder. All of the folders are located on my D drive (second hard drive). They are not located in any additional sub-folders.

The doNetFX20 folder contains 23,966 k in the 10 files.

  • This folder was not created by .NET Framework installer.
You can use some tool to monitor the folder to see what process is using it, I guess it may be created for System Restore function provided by Windows XP.

    Thanks.
