Hi, i didn't found anything yet if SQL 2008r2 (with sp3) is supported on Server 2016?
as i understood this KB https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2681562 Minium SP2 is needed for support with server 2012r2....
Windows 10 isn't supported at all... but propably because it's a client os?
any words on support for server 2016 (what basically's base is win10-1607)?

Hi DjFutureShock,
As described in KB2681562 ‘SQL Server 2008 R2 is not supported on Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016.’, that means SQL Server 2008 R2 is not supported at all on Windows Server 2016.

You should not have any problem to upgrade SQL Server 2008 r2 to SQL Server 2016

I dont think SQL Server 2008 R2 would be supported on windows server 2016, but I cannot find any official doc
