  • Question

  • can different azure subscriptions be assigned or associated with the same vnet?

Just want to confirm that a subscription can be associated with more than one region?

  • Virtual networks and Azure service resources can be either in the same or different subscriptions. The only requirement is that both the virtual network and Azure service resources must be under the same Active Directory (AD) tenant.

Perhaps i am missing something , subscriptions can't be associated with any of the regions. Its an agreement with Microsoft to use one or more Microsoft cloud platforms or services, for which charges accrue based on either a per-user license fee or on cloud-based resource consumption

  • Azure subscription is region independent, the concept of region comes from Resource Group level.

A vNet can be used within the subscription only under which it resides. If you have a 2nd subscription you have to create another vNet within that. However, you can peer both the vNets residing in two different subscriptions to establish communication between them.

  • Can one subscription be used for different regions (i.e. East 1 and West 1).   Can the V-net East 1 created in East 1 region be used in West 1?  Or do we need to create a new vnet for West 1?

  • As mentioned earlier subscription is not region dependent. So, you can create resources in different regions within a single subscription.

However, vNet is region specific, so if you need to create Vms (for example) in two regions under your subscription, you need to create two different vNets in those respective regions. The following diagram will help you understand the basic architecture (note: you would only need the vNet peering if you want to establish inter-vnet communication)
