Setting to make new windows open in the background RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi all

I need help, before I lose my mind.  I would be busy typing an email, for instance, while I'm waiting for an excel sheet to open and the new excel window will open and all of a sudden I'm busy typing my email in the excel sheet, because it popped to the forefront and ignored that I'm busy working in another window.

Or like this morning, I was busy with an email and a window about a pending Windows Update popped up and before I could even register it, I pressed enter (because I'm busy on an email!) and there goes the window and I had no clue what setting I just selected.

How can I stop windows popping up in the foreground?  Please?  Help!

I am running Windows 10 version 1709 (will be installing 1803 today) on a Dell laptop.
