  • HI Bob,

    Visual Studio 2013 comes with Entity Framework 6 or higher versions. AS it generates queries in such a way that is not supported by SQL Server 2000 version.So it does not have support for SQL Server 2000.

    If you are using database first model then there is some workaround there as suggested in following link.

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25240192/entity-framework-6-supports-sql-server-2000

    <Schema Namespace="MyModel.Store" Provider="System.Data.SqlClient" ProviderManifestToken="2000" Alias="Self" xmlns:store="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/12/edm/EntityStoreSchemaGenerator" xmlns:customannotation="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2013/11/edm/customannotation" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2009/11/edm/ssdl">

    Hope this will help you. If you are looking for full fledge ORM for the same thing. I suggest you have a look on Nhibernate which is a open source ORM and supports all the things.

  • The version of Entity Framework included with VS 2013 (version 6) does NOT support SQL Server 2000, only SQL Server 2005 and later is supported by this version of EF.

  • EF doesn't work on MS SQL Server 2000 or lower nor does it work on MS Windows Server 2003 or lower.
