Move E-Mails in folders by subject. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey there,

how can I move emails automatically by a number (supplier id)  in their subject to the regarding folder?

The problem is we have more than a hunderd suppliers and therewith a lot of folders. (each supplier one folder, ID as primary key)

At the moment we do that work by hand. Means: Check the number at the beginning of the subject and sort it in the folder with the right matching number. All emails that have to be moved are in a special folder. Is there an easy way to solve this problem?

Thought about some kind of makro, but I am not relly into it and would appreciate some help.

    Thank you.

    best regards

You could use MailItem.Subject property to get a String indicating the subject for the Outlook item, then use string functions to check the number at the beginning of the subject:

    MailItem.Subject Property (Outlook)

    String Functions (Visual Basic)

    >>>All emails that have to be moved are in a special folder.

You could use MailItem.Move method to move a Microsoft Outlook item to a new folder.
