Macro to compare specific excel spreadsheet columns within 2 separate Workbooks RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have two Workbooks called "ADInfo.xlsx with NetBIOS Names in column 1" and another called "Vulinfo.xlsx with NetBIOS Names in column 2", that I would like to compare and for the macro to create another Spreadsheet called "Results" with all the information within VulInfo.xlsx that matches the NetBIOS Name from "ADInfo.xlsx"

  • There is no need for a macro, use this formula (in a new sheet or file):

    =VLOOKUP([Vulinfo.xlsx]Sheet1!B1,[ADInfo.xlsx]Sheet1!$A:$A,1,0)

And drag it down until you see an error value.

  • Life makes very simple with PowerQuery. Install Powerquery, It's an add-on for excel which can do merging and appending data sets from different sources(Excel,SQL,sharepoint, oracle, sap .. what not?) Your task of comparing is easily done over there.

Let me know if you need any more information.

    Thanks.
