Welcome to the Bing Maps Windows and Windows Phone Map Controls forum. This forum is moderated by Bing Maps MVPs and Microsoft staff and is the definitive place to ask (and answer) development questions relating to Bing Maps for
Windows & Windows Phone. There are currently two options to develop Metro style apps for Windows:
- C#, C++ or Visual Basic
- Javascript using Bing Maps AJAX Control V7.0
If you have a question about Windows 8 development unrelated to Bing Maps try posting it in the
Windows 8 forums for a faster response.

Getting started:
Step 1. Get an account Choose “Metro style apps” for the key type.
Step 2.
Download the bits from the Visual Studio Gallery. Or directly from the Extension Manager of Visual Studio 11.
Step 3. Read the Reference API docs
Step 4. Download the samples from the visual studio gallery.
