Visio Graphics Service is missing from my SharePoint 2010 beta installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm going to my services on server and I can't see the Visio Graphics Service on my QA SharePoint server.  It is however on my dev server.

Do I need the actual Visio 2007 client installed on the server in order to have this service available?

  • Nope, no client needed, but you may need to create an instance of it (possible failed install in the QA box install).  Does it show up in the "New" button in the ribbon on the serviceapplications.aspx page so you can create one?

  • No option to install it via the "New" button in the ribbon on the serviceapplications.aspx page either.

On my dev box I was able to get it to show by restarting some services in the site collection but still can't get it working on my QA server.

I blogged about the problem here:

  • Try going through the Farm Configuration Wizard and see if its like the Session state service.  It can't be created from the New menu either.

  • I went through the Farm Config Wizard and it still doesn't show up.

Could it be the license key?

  • That's possible, but I am pretty sure that Visio Services comes with Foundation.  You might try to reinstall Server on the QA box, if you don't have anything in it yet.
