    A Visual Studio add-in can be loaded into both Visual Studio and the Visual Studio Macros IDE.

    Conversely, a Shared add-in can be loaded only into Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Excel. More information :
