Office 2010 - PIA - COM Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm in trouble.

I'm trying to do some Outlook Automation of Outlook 2010 with VS2008 OR VS2010 on a Windows 7 x64 machine. (Office is 32 bit, though I did have the 64 bit version of office installed at one point.)

    I'm getting:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80004023.

    upon calling:

    Dim

    app As New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Application

I've read its an installation error. I've uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled Office a few times. Not sure what to do... or what to look for.

    Help?

  • Hi Kevin

As you're obviously not using the VSTO technology, I'm going to move your question to the general Office development forum. The VSTO technology always runs in-process with an Office application, so what you're trying to do is never part of using VSTO...

It's also not clear whether your question is about Word or about Outlook: Your code snippet is for Word.
