What is the standard compiler for Windows CE 6.0 (for VS 2005) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I just started with Windows CE 6.0 and I have a C ++ application to make.
I usually use the Windows CE 5.0 and I compile with STANDARDSDK_500.
I want to know what standard compiler should I use and where can I get it.
    Thank you for helping me.

  •  CE 6.0 onwards, you have to create your own SDK from the corresponding platform and there is no standard sdk available for application development. What device are you using for your application development? if you don't have devices, you can use device emulator or Virtual PC ( both are not standalone, it is coming with the CE 6.0 platform builder). you have to build the BSP and can be used for application development.

  • Thank you very much for replaying. It is clear now.

Just one more information, my application has as scoop to start the RAS server to perform a PPP connection with another device.

Is it possible with CE 6.0?

Could you help me if you have any information about this?

    Thank you :)

  • The Connection Manager might be what you are looking for.   See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee497853(v=winembedded.60).aspx

  • Can you explain me what you are trying to acheive? Are you talking about GPRS data communication?

One option is suggested by Bruce. Another option is

Windows CE supports RAS Server as well as RAS Client ( I mean connecting GPRS through RAS/PPP APIs is also possible).

  • I have to establish a PPP connection via RS232 cable.

The Win CE 6.0 equipement should be the server and the other device should be the client.

i.e. External device should send to WinCE equipement the following message "CLIENT"... several times

the WinCE should reply with "CLIENTSERVER".

I don't know if the GPRS communication should be active for this.
