exporting grid data to MPP using C# RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a requirement to provide the export to Project. We will display the data in grid on ASP.Net form. User should get an MPP file on click of the export to MPP button. We need to use C# to get this export happen. Also, we don't want to install the MS Project software on the production server to achieve this requirement.

  • Hi,

If you have Project Server, you can use the PSI interface to create a project in Project Server.
There is no way to create a .mpp file other than through Project Automation which of course requires a copy of Project on the server.

You can create a database in the .mpd (MS Access) format described in pjdb.htm for Project 2003. Project 2007 and 2010 can read projects form that format, but not save to them.
