Connect to PowerPivot Workbook Published in SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created a PowerPivot workbook and have published it to a SharePoint site.  I can access the site, have permissions to the site and am able to open the file from there.

When I create another PowerPivot workbook and try to connect to my published PowerPivot workbook using the From Database/From Analysis Services or PowerPivot functionality I am getting the error:

Failed to connect to the server. Reason: The HTTP server returned the following error: Not Found.

I do not have the PowerPivot for SharePoint element installed in our SharePoint environment.  Is this a requisite for this functionality?

    Thanks,

    Mark

  • Yes, installing the PowerPivot for SharePoint add-in is required to use this functionality, as one with it a PowerPivot workbook can become a hosted model available to query from other tools.
